"Chicken-on-the-bone" is a local spicy dish cooked by baking whole unboned chicken thigh in an oven until the skin turns crispy and the meat becomes juicy.
Mainly on Shodoshima, the birthplace of olive cultivation in Japan, visitors can enjoy high quality olive oils as well as healthy and delicious meals using olives. Kagawa's popular "Olive Beef", "Olive Yume Pork" or "Olive Yellowtail", delicacies from stock raised on special feed mixed with local olives, can also be appreciated throughout the prefecture. (The Olive Yellowtail season is from September to mid-January).
Additionally, around the Seto Inland Sea, which is rich in marine products and known as a “natural fish tank”, you can enjoy seasonal, fresh seafood all year round.
The long daylight hours and warm climate also nurtures numerous varieties of high quality vegetables and unique local strawberries, kiwi fruit and other fruits that are highly recommended.
